The Concept
In planning our yurt and bell tent holidays we wanted to be really green. Some self catering and camping holidays offer one aspect of helping the environment, often recycling, but we have found none that are really green in all aspects. We want to provide relaxing and comfortable yurt holidays that make the minimum impact on the environment, so we have designed our concept to ensure that your holiday will make the lowest possible adverse impact on the planet. We also want to offer our guests information and choice about aspects of their holiday.
We have a range of green options available on site including wood burning stoves and braziers which may be less familiar and take a little longer than our quality Calor gas cookers which are convenient but less environmentally friendly, but which have a zero carbon footprint as we use wood from sustainable woodland. Guests are free to use either option. We also provide compost toilets and a solar shower.
We have carried out extensive research to find the greenest options in
all areas of our holidays, whilst still maintaining choice, comfort and
quality. We reduce, recycle and reuse everything that we can, and make
it easy for our guests to do the same. We aim to constantly re-evaluate
what we do so that we strive to become even greener year by year.
Our yurt holidays not only provide a comfortable base from which to explore
the beauty and attractions of the Isle of Wight, but also provide an outdoor
living experience that may change people’s approach to their own lifestyle.
Guests also have the peace of mind of knowing that their green camping holiday is adding
little, if anything to the effects of global warming.
